About Me

Sarah

Hi, I’m Sarah. [she/her]

I’m a devoted mama, wife, sister, daughter, and doula. My background is in policy and research focused on vulnerable and underserved populations. My years of experience supporting and advocating for families have taught me the importance of connection, the beauty of community, and the power of knowledge. I have found these same ingredients—connection, community, and knowledge—are fundamental to an empowering and fulfilling postpartum experience, which I believe every person deserves, regardless of pregnancy outcome. As a doula, my mission is to provide unwavering support to help build this foundation.

My journey into reproductive health and birth work was planted as a seed at an early age. Since I can remember, I’ve been fascinated with the transformative nature of pregnancy. It wasn’t until the birth of my daughter, Isla, with the support of a doula that I was inspired to become a doula myself and completed full spectrum doula certification with Doula Trainings International.

I began my doula practice primarily supporting individuals and families before and during birth. While I love serving individuals and families in this way (and continue to do so over at Hello, Tapestry!), it became clearer to me over time, and as I processed my own experience, that we’re often so prepared for the birth of a child but do little to prepare for and acknowledge the life-changing transformation that is postpartum. And it’s no wonder. We live in a culture that is hyper-focused on the baby, prioritizes consumption and productivity, neglects recognizing postpartum as a transformational experience, and dismisses the natural rhythms and needs of our bodies. On top of all of this, many of us live far away from our extended family so have little consistent support, and community care has long been forgotten. Not to mention, we’re told to keep loss and abortion in the shadows, leaving many of us alone with our experiences. It’s no wonder postpartum depression and anxiety are high and on the rise.

As a postpartum doula, my mission is to offer what our popular culture does not - time-tested, healing support so that you feel fully nurtured, connected, and at ease in your unique postpartum experience. Many cultures say that the first forty days postpartum (regardless of pregnancy outcome) impact a person for the next forty years of their life. So not only do you deserve this type of support, your life depends on it.

My support is tailored to the specific needs, circumstances, and desires of you and your family. I take time to learn and understand your story and preferences. I hold no judgement; I support you unconditionally. If appropriate and feasible, it’s ideal to start working together during pregnancy, so that we can customize a care plan that best aligns with your unique needs and situation. However, I also recognize that’s not possible in every case and am prepared to be flexible so that your needs are fully met.
